Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 - world’s first diesel electric hybrid car goes on sale

 08 September 2011

The new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4, the world’s first full diesel hybrid is now available to pre-order with full prices and specifications announced for this multi-award winning vehicle. This environmentally friendly, ground breaking car introduces a combination of diesel and electric power, a real breakthrough in technology and renewed driving sensations, while also delivering huge benefits in cost of ownership.

HYbrid4 technology delivers low CO2 and High Mpg, but without compromises, through its four driving modes Auto, ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle), Sport and 4WD.

  • Performance - 200bhp, Dynamic handling, 4WD
  • High Sensations - Smooth and fluid power delivery and silence in ZEV
  • Low Emissions - CO2 from just 99g/km with fuel economy of 74mpg
  • Driver Choice -  Wide choice to suit all driving conditions

In addition to the above driver benefits, there are clear reductions in ownership costs through improved fuel economy, reduced Vehicle Excise Duty and BIK taxation, strong residual values and exemption from the London Congestion Charge.

Peugeot has further cause to celebrate today with 3008 HYbrid4 gaining its second award prior to launch, following on from the coveted Diesel Car Magazine, ‘Best Eco Car of the Year 2011’, it has now been awarded a 2011 What Car? Green Car Award for the SUV category.

Chas Hallett, Editor-in-Chief at What Car? commented on the award for the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4: “The world’s first production diesel hybrid is the best hybrid the What Car? team has driven.  The joint power sources work together seamlessly and emit only 99g/km of CO2. This means the car is exempt from both road tax and the London Congestion Charge. The SUV sector continues to be popular, and we can see a waiting list for the Peugeot growing very fast.”

Morgan Lecouper, Marketing Director commented: “Peugeot has long paved the way in diesel engine development and HYbrid4 is at the fore of automotive technology. Having the 3008 HYbrid4 being recognised in this way by What Car? is an honour and one we are extremely proud of.”

Having sold out of the 3008 HYbrid4 limited edition, the range offers two versions: a 99g/km CO2  at £26,995 and 104g/km CO2 at £28,495.

New technology, an extensive list of features available as standard and a new driving experience are all virtues that will help retain a high level of desire in 3008 HYbrid4.
